Are all peels harmful to the skin?

The Herbal Enzyme Peel, Say goodbye to chemical peels forever!

Chemical peels have been around for many years and are a really common treatment in the beauty industry; but after long use of chemical peels they can actually have quite a negative affect on the skin.

Our outermost layer of skin, called the stratum corneum,  is essentially our protection from the outside world. It is made up of hard, flattened and keratinised skin cells called corneocytes which have lost their nucleus or 'brain' so they are often referred to as 'dead skin' but although they have no nucleus they  play an important roll in our skins health and can still send signals down to the cells below.

Resurfacing treatments like chemical peels remove this layer of skin which can leave you feeling fresh and smooth, only you have now lost that defense barrier,  you are more susceptible to free radical damage and over time problems start arising as your skin can only take so much!

By working with the corneoocytes and using enzyme peels the skin will remain much healthier! Enzymes work like little pack men, they can send signals through to the cells below and encourage your skin to naturally desquamate and shed without removing or disturbing your skins defensive barrier and you still get that beautiful fresh skip on top!

Enzymes rely on the presence of water on/in the skin in order to remain active. A skin with little water is often accomodated with dry, flakey, congested skin.

At SJM we use a beautiful, natural herbal enzyme peel which has mixture of many enzymes as well as vitamins. These herbs contain NO toxins or synthetic harmful ingredients that can impair the skins barrier. By using a gel to activate and help massage the herbs in, they embed themselves within the skin and start working their magic! This peel is able to inhibit acne and lift pigmentation and continues to work like this for a few days. By increasing micro circulation the skin has more oxygen and is able to speed up the healing. This peel has little to no downtime and leaves you feeling glowing afterwards. This procedure encourages cell turnover and is ideal for most skin types INCLUDING all Fitzpatrick skin types (different nationalities and skin colours).... unlike traditional chemical peels which risk pigmentation.

Testimonial: "I LOVED it! Bit of a weird feeling at first with the prickly feeling of the peel but I felt so fresh after it (not like I don't every time I come to see you) but it was just a different feeling this time. I didn't wear makeup for a few days and I could still feel my skin thriving. I really liked this one!"
